Material Design Philosophy (Speed and Scale)

The Sanctus Viz procedural materials were specifically designed to offer superior speed compared to the average Sanctus Library material. I achieved this by aggressively optimizing the node trees and intentionally omitting some of the more costly nodes.

You will notice less weathering and fewer surface imperfections to prioritize lower processing times and maximum viewport performance. This makes the materials ideal for large, complex scenes.

Real-World Scale

It is important to note that the material scale is set to match real-world dimensions to integrate quickly into Arch Viz workflows. If you test the materials on a 2-meter dummy object, the details may initially appear too small, but they are correctly sized to scale.

The Future of Materials:

The balance between fast processing and realistic results is delicate. I am continuously seeking the best performance/quality ratio, so you can expect ongoing adjustments and refinements to the materials in future updates.

Using the materials

The addon’s panel is located on the viewports’ N-Panel (Hotkey N)
You will see a tab with the name “SViz”, click on the tab and you will see the addon.

  1. Categories: Here you can select from the different categories of materials
  2. Selected Material: This is the active selected material, when clicked, you can change the selection.
  3. The materials included on the current category (Displayed only when you click the “Selection Preview” image.

To apply a material, just select the object, and click the “Apply Material” Button.
Alternatively if you just want to append the material to your blend file, you can use the import material button.

If the material was already assigned to this or other objects you will be presented with 2 options:
1. Assign the version that you already have in your scene (that will keep all the changes to the material parameters that you did)
2. Add a new fresh version of the material with the original parameters
